There is a lot of work that goes in to making a 3D spin with large items, first up is to build a set that contains as many of the different reflection that the object may have e.g. shiny metal surfaces etc.

3D Spin Photography How Too

First we create a base on which the item will be placed with rotation markers so that when the item moves.

A: the item remains at exactly the same viewpoint as the camera as it spins and
B: The rotation markers denote how many turns the item will need to make before it returns to the same spot as the original starting point.

The shots in this particular 3D Spin photography have then had clipping paths added to each shot and each shot has been retouched to the same coloration, brightness and contrast so the item appears exactly the same as it moves.

the item is then added to a 3D spin program or web supplier and the final website code is created so when added to your ecommerce website the item appears to rotate this way and that.

The initial investment of 3D spin photography are much larger than normal product photography because you are effective shooting 20 or more shots for each item and having much of the same retouching work done to each image.

A completed 3D spin offers your clients so much more scope to understand and get a feel for the product your selling, and that opportunity to get a true feeling for your product can be the difference between selling and being passed over.

If you are a specialised company that sells a low number of higher priced items I would highly recommend this as a way to create connection with you clients.
