Last week we undertook a photoshoot for ‘ Racks Of Fun ‘ a Bendigo wine business looking to create some outstanding advertising product images for there wines. The usage – Promotional purposes for printed catalogues, websites commerce and newspaper articles.

Owner Peter Howell decided on PPM photography after using a number of different photographers around Melbourne and wider Victoria, unfortunately finding that the images produced for their bottles were substandard, and what they really needed were some truly professional images that reflected the brand style and made the metallic and reflective bottle labels leap of the page.

These bottles posed a real challenge to photograph, no matter where the lighting came from these labels would reflect the light strait back at the camera, Even with our photographic knowledge of lighting and professional retouching skills, this was a real challenge.

After the third lighting setup we hit on a style that created enough pop in the metallic label surface and hold some contrast and definition in to the label.

The next challenge in retouching was to remove the back labels from being seen through the glass bottle and to balance the depth of colour in the wine itself.
