4 Major Reasons To Optimize Your Website for Mobile

Return To Business Posts

Sales Doubling Through Tablets Year On Year

Since the mobile tablet computer came on the market, e-commerce sales through there usage have been growing consistently.

All this has been at the expense of smartphones, laptops and desktop PCs.

Low cost and smaller media tablets are shaping this new market,
Over half of all media tablet users had purchased a physical product or service via their devices in 2013

Telsyte research director, Foad Fadaghi – SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

“The majority of mobile ecommerce sales this year will be made on tablets, compared smartphone devices.
Having a tablet almost guarantees that the person uses it for ecommerce.

This massive growth is expected to continue year on year! as the public steadily feel more comfortable and safer with using them for purchasing online.

Growing usage of Mobile Devices

I’m sure you know how popular mobile devices and tablets have become.

In fact your are most likely a proud owner of one yourself.

You could even be reading this on one now! (think of the irony)

The price range of these mobile devices are now in the reaches of the general population giving them unrivalled access to information, services and shopping experiences.

During 2013 Australia’s tablet sales doubled to reach 4.8 million units.

Telsyte of Sydney also predicted penetration of tablets to exceed personal computers some time during 2015.

Standard Websites Are Poorly Rendered On Mobile Devices

If customer or client is unable to view the details on your site properly they will just leave.

Remember you have 3 seconds to grab their attention, and only ten seconds to keep them interested!

Any inconvenience what so ever to a potential buyer could well put off the sale and fast.

Problems to look out for:

Main navigation buttons and drop downs.

Media and images not loading properly on smaller screens.

Missing site offers in sidebars an drop downs.

Buttons acting differently during mobile usage.

According to recent statistics, 40% of e-commerce customer’s will instantly choose a competitor because of a poor user experience while on a mobile or tablet device.

Ease of us are the magic words here!

Internet users are notoriously fickle and remember their poor online experience long after the initial experience.

Make sure that user experience is a good one every time!

Mobile v Desktop Platform

The consumer market has an insatiable appetite for mobile gadgets these days.

Driven by this Google has recorded this year that individuals are more likely to use a mobile device than a desktop computer.

The same report also eludes to an individuals usage of desktop computers declines 75% once a mobile device / tablet device has be purchased.

In Summary

In summary online services searches and shopping has exploded everywhere.

If you are not optimized for it you could well be loosing out on massive amounts of interest and ultimately sales through bad website architecture and design only focused on desktop and laptop usage.

Your competitors are optimizing now so if you don’t at least get started the likely hood is you will be left far behind.

And that might well prove to be very costly indeed.

So its time to get innovative! With this new technology!
