Editorial Photographer Project Mottainai Cycles

PPM Photography are based in Fitzroy Melbourne, over the past few years we have noticed a marked shift in the industrial occupancy rates within what is Melbourne oldest suburb Fitzroy & Collingwood. Once this area was called Newtown. The first official area designated for building of city suburbs.
This area has undergone massive change and upheaval through the ages but this time the shift towards high price inner city dwellings is pushing all industry and multi use building in the area out from this interesting historical eclectic suburb. Leaving only a small number bespoke designer makers of arts and crafts to keep the face of trades alive.
With the help of Fitzroy residents and local businesses our aim is to create a bank of stunning editorial images for a number of future uses including adding to the historical image collections of the area.
This is just the start of an ongoing project to take a look behind those shutter doors and grimy windows of workshops all over the Newtown area.
If you or someone you know would like to be part of this ongoing editorial project please make contact through the website contact page and let us know all about it.
The example image below from the soon to be demolition bike workshop Mottainai Cycles, 41 Kerr St, Fitzroy. To make way for a major 6 story development from Kerr though to Rose street.(next door to the Rose Street Market)
Where a wonderful example of community spirit and camaraderie exists for biking enthusiasts from all over the city.
